I've opened this thread again for Flowerladys sake. please dont hijack it just yet.

Are we sitting comfortable? if so let us begin.

this above is Polemoniun yesoense var hidakanum, its found in the mountains in Japan. It flowers mid summer till October ish. It has the largest and deepest blue flower of all the Pole's. In about 1995 Ray Brown of Plant World Seeds noticed a slightly darker one so he grew it on and selected it and selected till he ended up with P. 'Purple Rain'. Several years later Bressinghams have done a similar one, called P. 'Bressingham Purple'

If you collect seeds off any of these it reverts back to P.yesoense var hidakanum. Only 1% will come true and also Polemoniums prefer shade or semi shade, full sun stresses the plant out. You need to stress this one out to give the full colour. so give it full sun but well watered. This is what you will get.

If its a genuine BP just stress it a little, but might have to wait till July time. But becarefull there is a lot of nurseries selling seed raised plants, which wont be true and should not be sold as that, but should be sold a s P. yesoense var hidakanum. A large national mail order company is doing this (dont panic Bagpuss I wont name them on here), there is even a seed company selling seed of a sterile hybrid polemonium, clever ehh?

if its small it may wait till next year to flower, they live about 4 years. I hope you have it on a pot then you can stress it in the sun to bring out that real deep purple

I've still got some of those seeds you gave me G2 - it's not so ridiculously hot now - do you reckon sowing them now will be OK ??
