There was a diagram of the lotty pipe over yonder
Basically it was plumbing pipe, grey stuff, looks about 6" diameter, big enough to fit a champers bottle in At the end of the pipe we used a piece of black plumbing stuff, end stop or some such thing. I don't know if it had a hole already in it or if we drilled one in it but that's where the liquid will drip through, into a jar. I filled the bottle with SAND and you use that as a press to force the comfrey leaves down the pipe. We used a metal bracket to rest the pipe on but you could use proper down pipe fasteners
I use it all the time Dom and it soon collects comfrey juice. I used the top half of the watering can rose to divert the juice neatly into the hole in the jar lid
We are going to use a water butt, place wilted comfrey in a porous sack place sack in butt, the use of the sacks stops the comfrey from blocking the taps etc.should be ready within 4 weeks. Fingers crossed.

I picked four courgettes - one yellow, two green and one Romanescu, last night. Also dug spuds (2kg of 2 plants) picked broad beans and peas. _________________

I've spent all but 90 minutes of a day off work, at the lotty today and seemed to do mainly weeding
I was given 19 January King ( I think that's what he said) cabbages which will overwinter, so planted them under the enviromesh, ate quite a few raspberries while I was there and brought home potatoes, 1 courgette, broad beans, beetroots and some spinach leaves The new growth on the beans has been munched again _________________ I'm not big on high maintenance - when it's time to bow out, I'll skid in sideways, in a wrecked, wrinkly and burned out body, wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, yelling "Woooohoooo, what a ride that was!!!!" |
