Sorry! And thank you |
Wot, not even the little ones for stir frying.... (I hate the big ones too cos they just get stuck in your teeth and come out the same as they went in!) _________________ "Still other seed fell on good soil. Icy told me to grow Minipop (the stir fry size ones) and they're ace - I eat them off the plant sometimes Not tried big cobs at all, but I might give them a go next year on the lotty. _________________ I'm not big on high maintenance - when it's time to bow out, I'll skid in sideways, in a wrecked, wrinkly and burned out body, wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, yelling "Woooohoooo, what a ride that was!!!!" |

Impy's right about the picking. Mini-pop you have to harvest as soon as the tassles appear. If you leave them to 'ripen' like full size cobs they just go all starchy with big cores and are not nice eating at all. _________________ "Still other seed fell on good soil. My mini pops are the same. Great big things but not ripe. Are they sposed to be like that Them in the shops are little but at least they're ripe

Tsk yerself
I did read it but there was nowt there to explain why they look unripe and yet we're supposed to eat em The ones in the shop look yellow and glossy as sweetcorn should so I was doubtful about eating sommat that looks as if the kernels aren't even formed
What kind of good eating is that Even for chooks |

Did you plant them late?? I put mine in what I thought was to late and they are very well finished and the plants dug up now.
They should be ripe as soon as the tassles start to peek out the top of the leaves round the cob so not sure whats happened to yours Wardy.... _________________ "Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, multiplying thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times" Mark 4, v8 |
