Icy told me to grow Minipop (the stir fry size ones) and they're ace - I eat them off the plant sometimes Laughing Not tried big cobs at all, but I might give them a go next year on the lotty.

Ah, but, you see. That's where you went wrong. Pick em small and don't let them mature. I don't grow em mind! Very Happy

Impy's right about the picking. Mini-pop you have to harvest as soon as the tassles appear. If you leave them to 'ripen' like full size cobs they just go all starchy with big cores and are not nice eating at all.

Tsk yerself Very Happy

I did read it but there was nowt there to explain why they look unripe and yet we're supposed to eat em Confused The ones in the shop look yellow and glossy as sweetcorn should so I was doubtful about eating sommat that looks as if the kernels aren't even formed

What kind of good eating is that Rolling Eyes Even for chooks Cool

Did you plant them late?? I put mine in what I thought was to late and they are very well finished and the plants dug up now.

They should be ripe as soon as the tassles start to peek out the top of the leaves round the cob so not sure whats happened to yours Wardy....
