ooh I used to make that too, haven't made it for ages
BAKED CUSTARD
1 pt milk
3 eggs
2 tbsp caster sugar
Warm the milk in saucepan but do not boil
Whisk the eggs and sugar lightly in a bowl, pour on the hot milk, stirring all the time. Strain the mixture into a buttered ovenproof dish.
Sprinkle nutmeg on top and bake at 170C (325F) for about 45 min until set.
I have other recipes but this one should work |

French version translated a la Dom
1/2 litre milk
3 eggs
80g sugar
50g sugar for caramel
vanilla pod
Bring milk to boil with vanilla . Beat the eggs and sugar together for at least one min pour boiling milk on eggs then let it rest . Whilst it's resting, prepare caramel: heat up the sugar and let it caramelise....When it's the right colour pour in mould - evenly...
Pour the eggy cream on it. Put mould in bain-marie - water mustn't be quite boiling...
Cook for 25 to 30mn... |

Bloody hell Ady. This is getting freakier I cant stand egg custard. It is truely 'sgustin'. We have so many similar dislikes and crop failure I am begining to think we are clones. Go on name some more (apart from arsnips)
By the way I love the puking cat it is persackily like my Merly-puss. He's always sick. _________________ Get with the beat Baggy |

I'm another luuuurve egg custard vote I'm afraid. I used to get them on Saturdays as a treat from Henstock's when Dad picked up the loaves they always had on order... and usually a couple of cream buns for himself!!!
Nowadays it's Tesco's... not nearly as nice!

Sorry - am I being too vague even for me?
(What's the point in being an eccentric if you can't be vague occasionally?
Was away for most of weekend and brain was a bit fuzzier even than normal.
Back to work now...

Del - yes and no - church weekend away, so too much food, lots of good thought-provoking talks and discussions, but for folk like me who quail at crowds, it was scary, even more so because there were dozens of kids about. I just don't know how to relate to kids - never did even when I was one!
(Yes I was struggling a bit at the Bash)
I usually go to evening services cos there's no littlies and a lot fewer folk!!!
That and I can spend Sunday mornings on me plot
But I did use the Saturday free time to go to Enfield and hunt out the large numbers of garden centres at Crews Hill, so that was an experience. Though emphasis on garden centre rather than nurseries, so I still think Wallington has the edge (road with all nurseries on - used to live 5 mins walk away - when I didn't have a garden! Argh!)
