ooo You lovely person ... yes please Razz

Runners when they appear can be potted up while still on the plant ... then when really established they can then be cut free. Wink ... then we need to get together for a BBQ !!! Laughing

Flowers on about half my plants so far. They're in growbags this year and will be going on my strawberry putter as my 4 year old has aptly named the heath robinson construction.

Will post a pic if I ever get round to putting it together Rolling Eyes

I potted up lots of runners at the end of last year cos I knew we'd be moving this year - they're all in very tiny pots so haven't grown much, but they are all flowering like mad Very Happy Very Happy

I weeded my strawberry patch today Shocked
(it was a jungle in there)

anyway, I was planning to transplant them to a patch of nicely manured ground but never got round to it and now they are all fruit laden but the ground they're in must surely be impoverished cos I didn't feed them last year either Embarassed

so, shall I sprinkle on some 'growmore organic' and rake it in between them before mulching with straw?
or
mulch between plants with rotted manure?
or
leave them to their own devices this year and plant autumn runners in a new bed?

strawberries are a very important crop in this household, advice please???

Strawbs like manure round them. Water the ground well before plonking it round the plants. I grew strawbs for the last few years in fresh poo and they were fine Very Happy

WORD OF CAUTION...Be careful with using poo this time of year cos you don't want nasty bugs on your fruit and resulting tummy upset.......

Shocked sooo...before I trundle down there tomorrow...

is it safe to put pooh in the spaces between the plants but leaving a good margin?
or shall I just go with the 'groworganic' idea?
and what the flip is 'groworganic' anyway? Confused

Personally I don't put manure on anything that I will eat uncooked just in case.

Commercially if you apply manure for such crops you don't plant it for 6 months!

Mine are all snugged under shredded paper from the office so my recommendation would be to give them some liquid/granular feed (+ compost rather than manure if you want) then mulch them under paper with straw on top.

Very Happy
