... while away we found some Aubs to die for ...

they were large and round ... size of a grapefruit ... pale amuve and white under the calyx

... and the taste of them fresh was sheer heaven Cool

... so far have only found seed from Fothergills that remotely fit their look ... anybody know of any other source?

These ones in the Organic Gardening Catalogue sound similar - says they're considered the best by gourmets too Very Happy

This was the best I could do this year - Diamond, the best got to 9 oz, not much flavour though!

Did you grow in the g'house or bring all of them outside?
sowing time advice here too please ... it's my first go at aubergines this year Very Happy

I am going to try aubergines, I fancy the look of de barbentane I think they are called from Real Seeds, theywill grow outside so should flourish OK - any tips on what they like and dislike as a rule ?

I aint grown that one but I bet someone on here has. Dom probly

I grew Marketmore, or rather I didn't. They were a total flop

So on 16 th Jan last year I sowed Aubergine Bonica an F1 and I had lovely aubs. Booooootiful. Outdoors on the plot but surrounded by a home made frame made with four old window frames screwed together, no lid required tho Very Happy

They like plenty of humidity apparently, so bucket of water kept close by Very Happy

they need starting in your heated prop Dom so a pot of water inside that would be a boon Very Happy

Never occurred to me to sow aubs this early, but why not? I shall hunt out my seed packets at the weekend and see if I can find the missing packet of orange ones which never did turn up Sad

Mine were beautiful last year and i got 2 beautiful purple flowers.................then they died Crying or Very sad ............................am not gonna keep em in the greenhosue this year and see how that goes Cool

They need to be sown early like peppers coz they have such a long growing season Very Happy
