Does anybody know of a dwarf purple podded french bean. I don't want to grow climbing French beans anymore as I don't have enough time in spring to put up more than three rigs and I have enough ground to put in successional sowings of the dwarf varities (I want as much coverage as possible for green manuring as well as yield) I know of yellow ones. Prefereably non-f1 as I want to become self sufficient in all things bean. Will be growing my own runners next year.

PS - when fully dried, will have so Blue Lake (climbing bean) and Painted Lady runners up for grabs - possibly some White Emergos as well. Will post in swapsies soon Very Happy

Royalty and Purple Teepee. But neither grew and cropped so well as the yellow dwarf Sonesta, she's the champ IMO Very Happy

Garden organic do Purple Queen. (Organic Seed) Distinctive purple pods turn green when cooked. Heavy crops of tender, waxy, stringless beans withy excellent flavour.

Never tried them tho Razz

I have yet to find a green bush bean that is better than Tendergreen. Have tried a few. Some are very similar - one warning - Saxa is shite. Tasteless and watery. Never again.

Purple Queen are a lovely purple bush variety - great looking plants and flowers and lovely beans. Also grew a yellow wax one from Lidls (Brittle Wax) and they were dead sweet. Very Happy
