What do folk think about growing melons in cold frames? Mine are now east-facing (used to be south, but cooked things!) and all glass, so I reckon they might do nicely for the Minnesota Midgets.

Anyone any experience? My alternative is in the conservatory in a pot, but that gets even less direct sunlight, being north-facing!

I hope Minnesota's can be grown outside as that is what I intend to do - both Alan Roman and Real Seed Company say they will grow outside, I don't have a real greenhouse , just one of those three shelved thingies with a plastic coat bargain for a fiver from Kwik Save, but it won't be big enough for my melons

Outdoor melons (Ogen) failed in the greenhouse and succeeded outdoors last year Shocked I'll give them another chance, with a few of the MMs and other varieties to try Very Happy

I just want to make sure I grow mine in the back garden to stop any little wretches nicking them off the plots.

Just sowed two kinds of melon in my greenhouse (thanks Dom Very Happy ) When it's warm enough they're going on the plot in my frame thing. It's gonna get a tad crowded in there methinks Confused
