I have one. You know the ones with a few shelves that you can't walk into....

....anyway to the point! I planned to use it for germinating growing things on in spring and then grow chillies and peppers in summer. Trouble is the chillies and peppers do better outside both getting bigger and croppnig heavier!

So question...what do I grow in it???? If anything!!!!

Me and Dom's got one and Flo I think. I did broad beans in mine, later in the year mind, and they did really well. Keeps the wind off em and gives them a better start (in the bog rolls). I did all sorts in mine, germinating stuff that is that didn't require heat. I shunted stuff in there which I'd grown indoors and I protected me plants from frost using a Parasene Tiny paraffin heater. When danger of frost had past I germinated all sorts in it. You can take the shelves out of mine to give more height if you want. At the mo it's got cabbage plants and lettuces in it and there's no heat in there but they seem ok

Are we talking about the green shelving things which you zip a polythene cover over? I bought one years ago and it's permanently in the conservatory as a shelving unit for growing seedlings in spring and overwintering things in winter, and display in summer. I change the shelf numbers depending on what I need.

I've also got a Haxnicks Grow house outside, which was (thankfully) a factory second, and certainly would be by now due to the number of times I've had to mend the thing over the past couple of years. Not too bad, mostly used for hardening off things. It takes a very small parasene heater and because it's tall rather than low like a cold frame, the heat distributes rather well if frost is forecast.

Haven't really used it in summer as by then, I'm usually bereft of stuff at the house!

(Yes that's the Christmas tree, back outside for the next 48 weeks!)

While you're on the subject of mini greenhouses, can I hijack this thread a moment to ask where I should put mine (facing which direction, I mean)? It's one of these:

so it's REALLY mini (no sniggering, there - I don't have room for anything else, & I thought if I start some seeds off in the house & then move them into it to harden off I could get them started earlier so I'm not trying to do them in the middle of moving).

Anyway - the choice is - in the porch, where it will get plenty of light but not much actual sun & it's colder than the house but not as cold as outside; down the side of the house with plenty of shelter but no sun at all; at the back of the house in full sun all day; or tucked in sideways behind the old barbeque which I'm currently growing plants in, where it will get afternoon sun from one side.

Any advice (other than get a proper greenhouse, I mean)?

That looks like a neat little bargain. South facing and with as little shade as possible as you can always add shading if necessary so here:

at the back of the house in full sun all day.
Or, you could do it the French way and put it under a tree Laughing

Mines on the decking and unheated where it gets morning sun only and it managed to support all my tomato and chilli plants until I planted them outside after frost risk had passed.

Some shade is good to stop them getting to hot or drying out to fast so I wouldn't go for full sun all day. I'd pick one of the shadier places.

Yes! One of them mini-weeny ones. Got two big lumps of concrete on the bottom shelf cos it kept blowing over Evil or Very Mad

Hmm ... maybe beside the barbeque then ... never know when I get conflicting advice which one to go for . I'm growing perennial flowers in it, not veg, if that makes any difference?

But you see, my advice was that shade can always be added - a white sheet for instance would keep the heat down by reflecting a lot of the heat - think cricketers.
