I went to the nursery the other day to get some compost, and much to my surprise Mattie asked for a plant to look after (so cos he had one Sam wanted one) - Mattie chose a scented leaved pelargonium, Sam some purple flowered thingy.

Yesterday Mattie wanted to sow some seeds, instead we planted bulbs (he was most concerned that we got the planting distances right) - he's never shown any real interest before - hopefully he'll keep it going Very Happy

It's amazing what hanging around in a mozzie infested field with a bunch of gardening addicts does. Laughing

Marvelous ... One of the first flowers I ever grew were african violets.

Now I know I was in Africa at the time Rolling Eyes but so long as they are kept out of the sun in bright light (shade house to you Wink ) and water from the bottom ONLY they will thrive!! Cool

For kids these plants are terrific fun ... huge selection of colours and shapes, loads of doubles, ... propagation in water see them grew etc
If you don't have them there is bound to be an equivalent Very Happy

... I was also given my own veg patch 1 metre square ... I grew radishes and Zinnias Laughing
