I know global warming is a fact, but I've a seriously confused hippeastrum/amaryllis just coming into flower six months early!!!

Might have something to do with me neglecting it for most of this year so it never got to grow the usual leaves, and it didn't flower last Feb anyway.

I have only been watering it in the last month, and even then, only a couple of times. The embarrassing part is that the flower spike has got to over a foot high and I never noticed till this morning, as it lives on the top shelf at work, near the skylight...

Most of mine are only just getting water, the poor things. They'll grow leaves all year if you keep watering them, and I figured I had to water after I had ignored them since Easter, else I was going to lose a lot of them. (I ought to mention I've a trayful, most grown from offsets of one I bought almost 20 years ago.)

Usually you stop watering around now, and water again in Feb or when a flower starts to show.

Ah well. If anyone ever wants an appleblossom amaryllis, please let me know... all sizes available though flowering is pot luck!
