There's been lots of articles lately about carcinogens in shampoos Confused

It takes me ages to do the shopping having to read the ingredients on food. If I have to read the labels on cosmetics as well I might lose the will to live.

Can I just have cosmateics with a label that says....nothing in here will hurt your kids......thanks Very Happy

Just buy stuff from a trusted source, we get ours in bulk from places like Ecover and lots of organics, They do shampoo, shower gel , conditioner, etc etc, we dont buy Ecover loo cleaner cos tescos is cheaper and smells nicer Smile

I try not to buy ecover because of their rolling 5 year rule.

It all just gets to complicated sometimes, I mean we all buy stuff in plastic and recycle like good little chaps and chapsesses but what about the pvc content do we check that, nope prolly not, well I don't. I do feel their has to be a limit somewhere and so long as we just try our best then we can't ask more than that.

it means that the manufacturer doens't include any ingredients tested on animals within the last five years, but, this isn't a fixed date so an ingredient maybe excluded one year coz it falls withing the last five years and then included the following year so the only difference is that the company delays using the product until it falls outside the 5 years...........I think

Confused

I buy Avalon organics shampoo, Tara - lots of their range here, with ingredients listed:

- don't know what that site's like though, 'cos I get it in Waitrose or local health food shop. I buy the peppermint one because it's about the only one I've found which doesn't have citrus in it, but they do several others & soaps & stuff too - with no tricoslan, no parabens, & no artificial perfume.

R gets Duchy originals lime & bergamot shampoo, also from Waitrose - their stuff is pretty good too, but contains too much citrus for me.

I noticed my Avalon one was £7.50 on the other site I posted - sure I didn't pay that much for it though - think it was nearer £5 or £6 ... yep, just checked, £5.50 for them on Waitrose site, though they don't have mine any more. R's Duchy one is £4.95. Just had another look at Natural Collection site too, & Faith in Nature shampoos are £3.55 there ... there's not a specific kids one, but I'd have thought it must be better for kids to use one of theirs than a kids one which is full of chemicals?

Did anyone see the How Toxic Are Your Kids programme, btw? Shocked Shocked Shocked

thats what I was thinking, its just that the consistency of a stick is thicker and not as instantly moisturising Very Happy

the trouble with lipsalve is its vaseline (petroleum jelly based), its a barrier not a moisturiser so it simply sits on the surface of your lips giving the illusion of moisturisng, its not, so once you've licked it off it just needs to be reapplied.........its actually addictive Shocked
