Have been using the Nature Babycare stuff and despite having heard the nappies aren't the best sealed ones in the world, I can't grumble. OK so I didn't try any others, but they do the job! If you hunt about, you can also get wipes and nappy bags too, all biodegradeable. Not sure about the pong of the wipes though - I would prefer fragrance-free. But you are ok with cotton wool and water, even though not sure how eco the cw is!

Anyone with a new baby will need wipes to begin with, as the first poo (meconium) is NOT something you want to try and clean with cotton wool and water!! (Anyone with children will know what I mean). The midwives in the maternity unit were rather pleased I'd remembered to take some in with the nappies.

Baggy - email on way about my experience. May take a while to write - have found that I can easily start one on one day and finish the next!

I am going to try and stick to washable nappies (at least part time).
I know we will need a tumble dryer and washing for twinnies will be not eco friendly but I intend to give it a go so that the dustman doesn't have a wobbly when he sees the overflowing dustbin.

I bought a dozen terry-towelling nappies from Mothercare before I had Josh and used them for both babies as nappies, shoulder-protectors for winding, bath towels, emergency sick-mopper-uppers, layered as mattress protectors when they had the runs and nappies leaked etc etc etc... you get the drift. Best things I ever bought - and you can boil wash them and tumble dry them as needed. They look lovely on the washing line on a breezy day anorl Very Happy Cool

Just seen this and I still havent got my washable nappies. I need to choose a style that goes from birth to potty as T is a fat arse and Iz is teeny. The council do a voucher scheme but it is on the 1st monday of every month and we've had snow one month and b/hol the next so it has been cancelled.
BUT i do use micro fibre flanels instead of wipes and have the knack of not needing nappy bags. I have bought 20 cheepo cotton tea towels from ikea to use as muslins (19p each) and white hand towels (29p) for everything else.
I just don't care how I spend my money, me Laughing .
