If I can get hold of legal plants and seeds of these then definitely going to have a boggy area for them to live in - have one up the plot and if/when I get a bigger garden, will have them at home too.

I actively encourage spiders in the house, other carnivorous mini-beasts in the garden and up the plot and have a dog and cats. Just thought I'd add blood thirsty plants to the list. Very Happy

Thanks Dave and D&T - all help and advice gratefully received.

If you have plenty of big spiders about the house you don't get silverfish. Sorted Very Happy Our Russ used to love chasing spiders and eating them, apart from the hand sized ones which had even him backing off. They're flourishing here now. I have to be careful when I'm hoovering Very Happy

Eeeeuwww Shocked We have lots of silverfish if they're what I call woodlice - little grey armour-plated beasties with lots of legs that scuttle along by the skirting boards. Patches eats any spiders stoopid eough to come in, so there's nothing to eat woodlice.

Aha - no that's not them - I think you know the ones I mean, you find em in dry leaves and compost heaps and under wood and pots. I don't hurt them, I just find one or two in the house every couple of days, which I catch and put outside again. Probably the same ones! Laughing

I never get any here cos my spiders are huge Shocked I never saw any as big in our previous house and they run up the curtains and across the floor while you're watching telly. I have to keep my eye on em at all times so I can run off if they get too near. Even ouur Russ was a wuss in the face of some of the big uns Very Happy

Eeeeuuuwww Wards Shocked

We've had some pretty big spiders in the house since we moved - seems they're bigger in the country Shocked Our cats aren't any good at catching them in the house, although we have seen one of our cats bring one in that she'd caught outside Evil or Very Mad

They run a seedbank from which you get four packets in your first year free plus two more packets for a quid each.
As time goes on you can seed swap and so on.
Apparently they are super helpful and their newsletters etc are very informative too.
Gary gets nearly all his plants from them or from other members I think.

Secondly, he said that if you give me permission to pass your address to him, when he next splits his plants (which he has to do quite frequently cos they grow greatguns) he'll give you loads of plantlets to start you off Shocked

thanks for the new avatar by the way Confused I think
