yup, blatant clue is the seed packet Laughing

RHS don't mention parsnips in the list so they probably thought it not suited but bung a few in. She who dares .....

Last year I sowed broadies in bog rolls on Valentine's day and harvested them from the end of June. Can't remember when I planted em out though. Doh Rolling Eyes

If you put 'em in at 4 per square foot that's 6 inches each way Very Happy which should be OK - Its what I'm gonna do if my shallots ever arrive Evil or Very Mad

I do 7" but 6" sounds good for the square foot job. I even cut a piece of wood to size so I plant em exactly spaced out. Then the birds hoik em all out and I just bung em back anyhow Rolling Eyes

Thanks, will put them in 4 to a square. Got mine from local shop, they get the same two union and one type of shallot every year. Same 8 varieties of potatoes.Local mature couple who grow their own and are very helpful so just assumed they know what grows well in the area. 2o for 88p so no bank breakers and weren't too bad last year.

I think the rationale is 4 per 6 inches but then that would leave a gap in the centre so I'd bung one in. She who dares Cool
