speaking of which

Flo, these are those you got me from Seeds of Italy - Progress No.9 which I'm doing again this year as there were loads in the packet

Sowed em in these tiny little modules I found lying about. You only need about a teaspn of compost and just look at em. Good aint they?

Potted em on just now into peat pots

had a 'no show' on the first lot of delphinium seeds Sad
sowed them on 28th of Feb so reckon they'd be up now if they were gonna.
They were just on the kitchen window sill though so I might try the rest in the heated prop.

Lettuces, chicory and raddichio now showing Laughing but have labelling issues so don't yet know which is which Rolling Eyes

I've now got basil, leeks (THANKS WARDY!) chillies (sadly the hot lemons didn't grow) and cabbages. Red ones are being sulky but have 29/30 minicoles now up.

Feels like things are finally under way again. Now to try and find the time to actually plant stuff out when it's big enough!!!

I have been worrying about my plants in the greenhouse, why ? Some seed from an old cherry to I dropped when clearing out has started to grow in the gravel on the floor. Only keep it frost free but they were growing where it is coldest.

With that mad bitch of a dog we have, I now only have the use of about two windowsills. Grow house is currently in my passage Shocked with my potatoes chitting in it - still too cold to put tender crops in it anyway. So seriously short of space and putting off sowing toms until the last possible minute - so they can go in and out during April.

I'm not having any luck with chillies this year either Wards Sad The first lot germinated but then keeled over and died when we had a couple of really cold nights, I sowed some more but only 1 germinated and that's looking a bit sorry for itself Sad I've got the last 2 seeds to sow this weekend - although maybe I'll wait another week if there's snow forecast Shocked

Chilli germination's been incredibly patchy. It seems to suffer badly from old seed syndrome, as the seed I extracted from a dried chilli and planted have all grown. (Happily it's a good one, I kept a plant going through all of last year from the year before!) Pretty much everything else has been either a no-show or just 1/3 germination.

Still, have about 10 plants so not going to be short of the things! They are about to be chucked out the big heated prop this weekend into the relative cold of the conservatory (and I thought I'd be growing on all my seeds in the shed! Too cold still!) so I can sow the tomatoes.

Was going to plant the spuds but I'm having second thoughts as I don't think planting them in snow's a good idea!

I bought a supermarket basil yesterday and left it in the kitchen window last night. Got up this morning and it's gone black and the leaves off dropped off. Just shows how cold the kitchen gets when the heating goes off Rolling Eyes

I got a HUGE pack of basil seeds from Seeds of Italy and reckon I won't need to buy any more for about 10 years!!

So if you're desperate...

So Wardy, was that a yes? And I know I asked, but I forgot your answer!!! - did I remember to send you the pond thing? (Brain of a hamster...)

Reminds me, since I'm now back at work I have been able to reclaim some of the recycled jiffy bags I took in. So spuds will be on their way in the next few days to those who asked. I hope!
