Could murder some of the local ones.
Have new birdie feeding station, on top of a cast iron obelisk. (Thought it was a great idea). Added my squirrel proofed nut and seed thingys, and figured that it would be too hard for anything to get up the sides and get at the fat balls, so just hung them up.
Wrong! balls vanished inside 2 days. Put more out, with same result. This time, found one buried in my small blueberry's pot. That vanished entirely in another few days but has had a good knock-on effect- the bits that flaked off it are too small for squirrels but perfect for robins!
Meanwhile the little s*ds just cost me yet another fiver to get a proofed fatball holder. Argh!

The latest lot of fat balls I got are in red mesh and the birdies don't seem to be so keen on that compared to green mesh - they're lasting about 3 or 4 days instead of 1 or 2
Not seen our resident squirrel for ages. _________________ I'm not big on high maintenance - when it's time to bow out, I'll skid in sideways, in a wrecked, wrinkly and burned out body, wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, yelling "Woooohoooo, what a ride that was!!!!" |

I am just wondering where the other two fatballs are buried... will probably find out when weird stuff starts to grow in a few weeks!
But at least I now have feeders which the birdies are starting to notice. Have had chaffinches as well as the ubiquitous burglar birds. They need it in this freeze
