Heard of a great project!

D'you remember Linus in the peanuts cartoon? well he was the one that carried his comfort blanket everywhere.
The Linus project is planning to make personalised, handmade, individual patchwork quilts for all of the the children in local hospices.
The quilts are made to strict guidelines and because of that, are allowed down into theatre in the local hospitals and so on.
Because each becomes the property of one child, they can be taken home.

And, should the worst happen.....can be kept by mum and dad.

I'm going over tomorrow to see if I can join. I'll let you know how it goes.

Let us know what is expected. The thought of being 'saddled' with anything Baggy will be a sure thing to make them better.

well, that link is the American Linus project moonbells but thanks for posting it....it explained the project far better than I did! Embarassed

I have joined the 'Redhouse Quilters' who are just one of many groups supporting project Linus. They use patchwork and quilting to make blankets, presumably knitting groups knit, crochet groups crochet and so on.
The Redhouse Quilters (having provided loads to hospices over the last few years) are this year giving the blankets to children staying in battered women's refuges and to the Ellenor Hospice at Home foundation.

Blankets need only be 1m x 1m (although you can make them bigger if you like) must use only new, fully washable materials and they need to have a 'project Linus' label sewn on to them. There must be no beads, buttons or other items that could be pulled off and present a choking hazard.
Applique is permitted as is 'secure' embroidery.

I got to read some of the thank-you letters and they made me cry Shocked

well.............

To get the hang of it I'm doing a quilted wall hanging out of old scraps for indoors Very Happy would be a shame to muck up brand new material.

but I have already bought some material 'panels' that will be the centre squares for two linus quilts. one is a picture of a donkey and foal, the other is a golden retreiver puppy.
They were a bargain in the hobbycraft sale....just 99p each Laughing
