Still not been to plot since T-Day. They have shifted my shed but I have to put all the crap from the old one into it as someone wants my old plot Need to rally the troops for a shed emptying/twinny cuddling day. Only then can I think about starting on planting stuff. I need to find a company or GC that does plug plants for a reasonable price (or I'll ponce them from the codgers) so I can bung something in at least. If nothing else I am sure they will have courgettes and toms spare. As for spuds? Not this year I dont fink. _________________ Get with the beat Baggy |

Plants of Disinction have a good choice and you can buy just one of each rather than 16 of each like from Marshalls etc |

I have spent the past year collecting large juice and water bottles (we only by 4 or 5 litre ones here now and the uniformed groups get through loads and they save me them) and am going to bottle cloche all my tender plants this year so I can get them out 2 weeks earlier and so the slimies don't get them. _________________

I've put my Vales Emerald and Rocket in today - next door plot did his yesters, so I followed suit
I've no real idea where the last bloke grew anything, so have had to guess - I dig up odd taters and carrots and onions completely randomly it seems The general concensus tho is that he didn't do a lot for the 4 years he had the plot. Gues I'll find out if everything keels over _________________ I'm not big on high maintenance - when it's time to bow out, I'll skid in sideways, in a wrecked, wrinkly and burned out body, wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, yelling "Woooohoooo, what a ride that was!!!!" |

I have perfected my rotation I think. The plot is split into four areas but then each of those areas is split across the middle. I have an eight year rotation for virtually everything except Potatoes. _________________

Got thirty spuds in today - 11 Vales Emerald and 19 Home Guard. Never planted potatoes when it has been snowing before and this is the latest I have started getting them in. Also put my first spring sown broad beans in. Haven't done the second spring sowing yet. Must get on with it before it gets dark but still have the dog to walk. Busy busy busy. _________________

it's not as deep as the 'experts' recommend Dom, your liner would never have stretched that far. But we put a little rockery round the outside for the frogs to hibernate in for that very reason
The tadpoles however, don't need to hibernate And your pond is unlikely to freeze all the way to the bottom even in a really cold patch.
Mine never froze at all _________________
