I finally planted my spuds Happy now, once again. I planted them in a patch which has been covered over for yonks with black sheet mulch, and despite the sunny dry weather, the soil was moist and lovely underneath. Just made holes with my long handled bulb planter and dropped em in. I just had to crumble the soil up with my hands to fill the holes. My lotty sec wanted to rotovate it but nah sod that, I can't stand the bloody row I planted Cara, 10 free tubers of Yukon Gold and some odd Pentland sommat or other from a fellow plotter.
Those Rattes are growing away in a tub despite no water on them. I've not been to the plot since the day I put them in, weeks ago
need to go back soon as get the spuds earthed up or covered up with sommat |

I had loads of "cooked" compost so I used that to earth over the spuds
Today I have been mostly weedin. Not having been to the plot for an age I find the weeds have gone berserk Spread em out all over the place to dry off. Hope it doesn't rain |

some spud foliage is dead tall, thinking of an example off the top, er um
Cara! That has right tall flopping all over the place foliage. I'm growing that and it says you might have to support it. Might not anorl
Not raining here yet but then I'm not at the plot - yet! Trying my best to get there but keep getting thwarted |

I did get there eventually at gone two Got rained off so hid in the shed with a cuppa tea but someone still found me It cleared a bit so I did a bit more but I need some real quality time there just to clear weeds so I can actually find some soil to plant stuff in
Weeded some onions but the mole had been under there and the onions were all skewiff |

The old boy on the plot next to me has Swift, Plum and they're not flowering either. Nor's my Rocket. The Rockets I had last year in the garden never did flower - I started lifting them about mid-June I fink.

Fed up with the chuffin weather. Blowing a gale all day today and yesters. Plays havoc with me tabs so I had to resort to a daft hat Did some planting at home, not much though before it began to rain. Lost yet another pair of specs.
So forced indoors so I made a tray of fudge. Praying to gawd it'll set cos it's rum and raisin Made scones yesterday and I ate most of em meself |

It's still dust-dry here, even some of my shrubs out the front are lookin a bit sad - they badly need a drink. It's clouded over now tho and they're getting a bit darker and heavier, so I guess rain's deffo on the way
I spent 2 hours emptying my compost bin and spreading the contents round the garden this afternoon... oh, the glamour but I am feeling very pleased with myself cos it was good stuff and I like being outdoors just listening to the birds.. I heard a cuckoo too.
Leeds lost. Oh dear _________________ I'm not big on high maintenance - when it's time to bow out, I'll skid in sideways, in a wrecked, wrinkly and burned out body, wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, yelling "Woooohoooo, what a ride that was!!!!" |
