Yes, thanks Dom
BTW, they were exactly where they should have been. In one of my seed tubs, I had just kept not seeing them. Debbie looked and found them. _________________

Icy told me to get some the year before last and they were lovely. They all drownded last year but I've got 7 out t'back (not quite 61 ) which are doing ok and I'm planting the rest up the lotty this week hopefully.
I'm watching other people and they all do different things Some have rabbit fence all round and say they lose loads, others don't and have lovely cabbages etc. Some net peas, some don't. Sme have strings and foil and CDs to protect plantlets and some don't. I'm Befuddled by name and by nature just now Does anything munch sweetcorn? Pigeons? Bunnies? Deer? Badgers? Pheasants? Veggiesaurus? ok we don't have those..., but Gawd, my head urts.... _________________ I'm not big on high maintenance - when it's time to bow out, I'll skid in sideways, in a wrecked, wrinkly and burned out body, wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, yelling "Woooohoooo, what a ride that was!!!!" |

Despite being only about 1' tall (at the end of today probably down to 1" ravaged stumps ) some of my sweetcorn is throwing up side shoots. Now, despite what others say, I have never known these amount to anything but do suspect they divert energy from the main plant. I planted only a foot apart to prevent them in the first place!
So, fellow Sages of Vegetables, do you think I can remove them? _________________

I shall do it when I get the chance and shall report back. Do you think I should cut them or pull them off? _________________
