I hate these things. I put out three new yellow stickies today and must have caught 400+ in the first hour. I've got a plague of them in the conservatory and you can see dozens of cocoons in the surface of all the plants I've got in there. Bah. No wonder I've got problems getting anything to grow. The grubs get there first...

Just ordered a load of biological controllers. I hope they're very hungry...

MB You know those yellow stickies, well do they attract friendlies, eg bees and hoverflies?

I haven't used them for fear of catching the goodies

Sadly yes the stickies do catch everything, but in an enclosed conservatory with no vents they're fine as nothing else can get in (apart from the occasional annoying housefly which has buzzed in from the house and they can get stuck anytime).

The predators seem to be mites which live in the soil where the grubs do, and they've a long life span too, so with luck they'll keep going long enough to see out the infestation. And if I'm planting out something, if I scrape off the very top layer of compost and put in another pot, it'll probably allow me to keep the predators where I need them!
