can i use this for growing veg as there's a bloke in the paper who delivers 10 big sacks for £15 as i need to fill 10 big white polystyring fish boxes which i got from a fish house yesterday Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Mushroom compost is very alkaline - they add chalk - so it's good on brassica plots and for other veg which like lime. Don't put it on raspberries or blueberries! Potatoes may be at higher risk of scab if grown on alkaline soil, so best avoid putting the compost on them too.

If you have acid soil anyway, it will tend to neutralise it a bit. But if you have alkaline, then you're making it worse. I'd love to use mushroom compost (and get accidental 'shrooms too!) but my soil is way too chalky!

thanks MB but like i said im growing everything in fish boxes and containers in my back gardens as i had to give up my plot due to my health they delivered 10 big sack fulls today and its good stuff mind you it doesn't half pen and ink Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
