As and we evr get to the new house I will have a wall I'd like to grow some minarette and esplanade (or whatever its called when you fan the branches!) apples or pears. Anyone grow them and got some recommendations?

Nope Laughing Laughing Laughing but was flicking through the DT Brown catalogue today and they've got U-shape apple and pear trees in there - you'd probably get one of each on a house wall. Might be worth a look just for ideas.

Thanks for the link Flo it looks really interesting with good variety of stuff -I hadn't even thought about planting something for cob nuts!

Thats the trouble though - as I have limited space I want to make sure I get it right so phoning is definately a good idea.

Haven't grown them but I got a copy of Ken Muir's catalogue which has a big selection. Haven't bought any plants/trees from them but I did buy their strawberry planters and they arrived very promptly Very Happy

OK I have a minarette Early Windsor, which now produces quite a decent crop of middle-sized apples. I also had a minarette Vic plum, which was expensive and therefore a total PAIN when the local vandals snapped it off a foot above the ground... now have a very expensive bush... still no crop either.
