Our broad beans have flowered well and are looking strong dispite hurricane force winds trying to remove the top 6 inches of soil from our plot........

All the edges of the leaves have been chewed away by some little beastie.... could this be 'saw fly' and do they effect the beans or are they reasonably harmless??

All advise great received.......

Tis bean weevil. Shouldn't do too much harm - just gives the leaves and nice serrated look Very Happy Leave em be - red ants apparently don't like em. Very Happy

Probably bean weevil - and as far as I can make out don't do too much damage to the crop Smile

Do you mean the edges of the leaves look like they've been cut with pinking shears Very Happy We all get that but I don't think the beans suffer

You could use a puff of the supposedly organic Derris but I don't know whether it has any effect. If the beans are in good health they should crop well Smile
