ours didn't bleed because we pruned in December/January so we thought we'd get away with it.
it's just that there are no signs of life yet, I wondered if leaves should be showing by now but if everyone elses is still dormant i guess I'm just being impatient Embarassed

Ours is doing nothing at the moment Tara (it's an outdoors one). They're meant to be pruned in December anyway, so yours'll probably be fine. Will keep an eye on mine and let you know when it wakes up.

scale can be devastating Tara so you'll have to have eyes like a hawk Shocked They spread to other shrubs like wildfire Shocked You need to treat every tiny bit of the plant which can be nightmarish - even to the extent of painting the stuff on as well as spraying. Adding a bit of Fairy helps it stick better. You have to keep re-treating too cos they keep having more and more babies which get under the outer bark of the plant stems. I used some right strong stuff last year (which the guys on our plot use on food crops Shocked Shocked ) I wouldn't though Very Happy Dursban it's called. Malathion used to be used but don't know if that's still available Confused

Good luck

Bit rampant this year as I didn't know how to prune them last. Hoping that cos I have more options this year it will be easier. I will also set up their support this autmn. No fruit though.
