Aren't they cute? Very Happy

Wardy - the National Federation of Badger Groups asks people to report any sightings of dead (or indeed live) badgers to their local badger group - helps with their research which in turn helps with their badger conservation campaigning. Click on area of the map to find one nearest to you:

One of the parents who was on camp with us told us a story that gladdened my heart. His mate had just taken delivery of a top of the range series 7 BMW (he's already a tosser in my book) and was driving home one evening. A pheasant was crossing the road and he decided to speed up (becoming a bigger tosser by the minute) and hit the pheasant. Any way.....

The pheasant jumped at the wrong (right) moment, smashed his front grill, totally wrote off his radiator and did all sorts of other untold damage. He had to call out the breakdown. Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Laughing

That reminds me of something which happened to a friend of mine a few years ago. He was driving along with his family when a pheasant jumped out in front of the car - he thought he'd hit it so (not being a tosser) stopped, concerned, to see if it was OK. No sign of pheasant, so they decided it must have been a glancing blow and pheasant must have disappeared again into undergrowth. They drove on for some miles to where they were going, parked, and heard a strange noise coming from the car ... can't remember exactly but think it was from radiator grille. After a bit of investigation they realised there was a live pheasant inside! Shocked They couldn't get to it so had to call the RAC ... luckily the man believed them and came out even though it was 1st April. Laughing Pheasant was removed, apparently unharmed, and I seem to remember that in the absence of any other container they put it into a briefcase and the RAC man took it to the nearest bird sanctuary.

Awww Laughing they're both good stories Very Happy

My pheasant story which Mr L always tells with glee, is that on moving day when we did the flit from Kent to North Lincs, we drove up the A1. We were a good way up when, as we approached a busy roundabout behind a big tautliner lorry, a pheasant suddenly appeared from left and flew right across the windscreen.... at which point I squeaked, ducked right down and closed my eyes.

I was driving at the time Embarassed Rolling Eyes Laughing Laughing Laughing (the pheasant lived to tell the tale anorl)

Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing
We have a friend (big scarey biker...6ft 5 and twice as wide) who was hit in the chest by a pheasant while riding his chop thru some country lanes.

His (fake hippy) girlfriend insisted they stop for the bird, which was breathing but knocked out Very Happy

So, they roar off, in search of a vet with a comatose pheasant tucked in her jacket Rolling Eyes Of course, the bloody thing woke up....flapped like fury trying to escape on the M2 Laughing
The bikes careering across the lanes....cars swerving...complete bedlam before they could pull onto the hard shoulder to release the pheasant which promptly flew across the motorway and got squished Rolling Eyes

and the moral of this story is, when your time is up? it's up Confused
