As a "law enforcer"

I do feel that there has been a general decline in the levels of respect given to people "in authority" - whether that be teachers, policemen or even Customs Officers. More people now seem prepared to give abuse etc to said persons than ever before and everybody now yells "I know my rights" even though they don't
24 hour news and the "where there's blame there's a claim" culture have a lot to answer for in my opinion
But in answer to Bob's question - no I don't think so, there have always been theives, vagabonds and toe rags
