I get loose fruit & veg 99% of the time, but the greengrocer uses plastic bags to put it in. Durrr. I have mentioned paper bags, but the plastic ones go on nice ickle roller things and stay clean and are easy to use.... sigh. I do carry carrier bags around to re-use and Tescos Embarassed give you points for each one you re-use when you do your shopping. The kids toys at Christmas were a nightmare for packaging, but we recycled what we could and took a load to the tip as well. I saved the twisty things for plant ties! sad, me. Laughing

packaging annoys the hell out of me, especially on veg, its there to protect it say the shops - duuh its been in the ground with creatures crawling over it for months a couple of dirty hands in a supermarket won't make much difference.
On the recycling thread, I have had a cheeky note pushed through my door from our collectors stating that I has included contaminated waste in my box, I racked my brains what could it be - spent nuclear fuel rods - nah when I had a look a polystyrene chip carton had been thoughtfully placed in my bin by a member of the public - so I get a snotty letter from them telling me how naughty I am - makes you wonder why I bother, approx five houses out of twenty bother to put stuff out and when you do you get vilified grrrrrr Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

I'm with Bags, shoot em for not using their recyc bins or charge em extortionate rates Twisted Evil I think it should be illegal not to recycle as should landfills. Landfills shouldn't exist cos from what I've seen it's just a money making racket. The council tell us that our rubbish is going into landfill but the fact is they are buying rubbish from all over the damn country Evil or Very Mad Bastids Evil or Very Mad

My neighbours have loads of cats, dogs, hamsters (they chuck the crap out the cages onto the back field) and don't recyc any of their stuff. They have 3 young kids too. shameful I call it Evil or Very Mad Can't be bothered! They make me sick but they shouldn't be allowed to get away with it. I told her that with all the pet food tins and bottles they should be recycling. Like they need telling Evil or Very Mad

I can't remember who said it, but the thing about Germany is right. A girl I work with here was stationed in Germany. They are apparently very strict and will go through your rubbish to make sure you are recycling al you can and fine you if you don't.
